New Norton boss speaks exclusively to MCN

New Norton owner Stuart Garner has spoken for the first time about his ambitious plans for the historic name that is now back in British hands for the first time in many years.
Garner, 39, has spent millions of pounds getting the sole rights to the Norton brand for racing, road bikes and all rights to the name with plans for a range of new Norton road bikes starting in 2009.
Garner, speaking exclusively to MCN during a photoshoot at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham, said: “This has been a fairly hectic few weeks but getting everything signed and sealed last week was a big relief – it's taken a long time to get to where we are now.
“
First things first are getting the 961 Commando up and running and then the next step will be getting the rotary NRV588 sorted out as a road bike.
“We want a range of four new Nortons in the next three years.
“Norton is a fabulous brand and one of the things we are going to be doing is holding a Norton Day at Donington Park on June 19, 2009 where we will be trying to get the biggest gathering of Nortons ever. And we want the Norton Girls to come back.”
